"BRIAN COX began his career as a musician, initially playing keyboards with rock band Dare and then D'Ream, who went on to have many top 10 hits including New Labour election anthem 'Things Can Only Get Better'. In 2007, he became Dr Brian, having gained a first class honours degree in physics from the University of Manchester, and a PhD in High Energy Particle Physics at the DESY laboratory in Hamburg.

"In 2005, he was granted a Royal Society University Research Fellowship and is now mainly based in Manchester and at the CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland where he works on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

"Between 2005 and 2007, he was the Science Consultant on Danny Boyle's sci-fi film SUNSHINE and his commentary on the film is available on the DVD. He also writes for various publications including New Statesman and The Times. He is a well know television presenter & radio broadcaster. His credits include: Horizon—Can We Make A Star on Earth—BBC2 (2009); Horizon—What Time Is It—BBC2 (2008); The Big Bang—BBC4 (2008); and Horizon—What On Earth Is Wrong With Gravity & The Six Billion Dollar Experiment—BBC2 (2007)."
