Madoff created the largest Ponzi scheme in US history leading to $50 billion in losses. Madoff was arrested by federal agents December 11, 2008. March 12, 2009 Madoff pled guilty to 11 counts of fraud, money laundering, perjury and theft. He was sentenced to the maximum of 150 years in jail.
