Anne Lynam Goddard "became the eighth president and CEO of ChildFund International in January 2007. She is only the second woman to serve as ChildFund International’s president in its 70-year history. Goddard began her career in 1977 as a social worker, focusing on child protection issues. In 1979, she joined the Peace Corps and served as a volunteer in a remote village in northeastern Kenya. From 1984 to 1986, Goddard was team leader in Somalia for World Learning’s management training project with USAID and the National Refugee Commission.

"Goddard joined CARE (an international relief and development organization) in 1987 and held positions of increasing responsibility and leadership during a 20 year career with the organization. Highlights include: project coordinator in Bangladesh managing maternal and child health, community development and incomegenerating projects; assistant country director in Indonesia, leading all financial, administrative and personnel functions; deputy regional director for East Africa overseeing and supporting 10 country offices; founding director for contracts and grants, leading new business development efforts with USAID and other donors; and country director in Egypt serving as the first female country director in the office’s 50-year history. While in Egypt, Goddard served as a board member and treasurer and the Cairo American College and was the founder of the Egyptian Network for Exchange and Strengthening the Third Sector.

"In 2005, Goddard was named CARE’s chief of staff working from its Atlanta, Ga., headquarters. In this position, she was primarily responsible for working with CARE’s president and CEO to ensure day-to-day management of CARE USA’s global operations. She also chaired the Crisis Management Team and served as a CARE spokesperson." [1]
