Background
Ann Kirkpatrick was born in McNary, Arizona on the White Mountain Apache nation. After graduating from Blue Ridge High School, she attended the University of Arizona and the University of Arizona College of Law.
2008 elections
Kirkpatrick won the Democratic nomination in 2008, and was seeking to replace retiring incumbent Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Ariz.). She defeated Sydney Ann Hay in the November 4, 2008 general election.[2]
