America on the Move (AOM) is a health and nutrition program sponsored by the public-private partnership between PepsiCo and organizations such as AARP, the National Urban League (NUL), and The President's Challenge Physical Activity and Fitness. AOM promotes an "energy balance" approach, what they call "an easy-to-understand concept that focuses on balancing the foods we eat with how we move,"[1] and what Michele Simon, in her book Appetite for Profit, calls a convenient way for food companies to shift the focus and responsibility for obesity away from their unhealthy food products to focus, instead, on individual behavior change.[2]
