Alon Liel

Dr. Alon Liel is a former director general of the Foreign Ministry and former (1992-94) Israeli Ambassador to South Africa, is (2005) a member of the Council for Peace and Security. He teaches at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, at Tel Aviv University and at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya. Liel's most important recent role was to head the Israeli diplomatic discussions with Syria in 2008.
