Biographical Information

"Adel Iskandar is a scholar of Arab media and communication and Adjunct Professor at the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies, Georgetown University. He is the author and coauthor of many works including Al-Jazeera: The Story of the Network that is Rattling Governments and Redefining Modern Journalism, the first major analysis of any single Arabic media organization. Iskandar's work deals with new media, identity and politics. Iskandar has lectured extensively on these topics at universities in the Australia, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Kuwait, Morocco, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Dr. Iskandar is also the founder and Executive Director of Voices Without Borders International, a media development NGO focused on capacity-building and training for youth in disadvantaged communities. His latest publication is the edited volume Edward Said: A Legacy of Emancipation and Representation, 2010. " [1]
