Actionaid India Society

"Since 1972, ActionAid India (AAI) has been working with the NGOs and community partners to fight poverty marginalization, discrimination and injustice. In the recent years, its resolve has strengthened to address not just the outcomes of poverty, but also its root causes, as well as to work with poorest of poor people who suffer the most

"We are part of ActionAid International working in 43 countries.

"In 1997 ActionAid India Society (AAIS) was registered as a dedicated organization, committed to raise funds from within India and to support issues and organizations which cannot / do not wish to receive foreign funds. AAIS is registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 on May 14, 1997 with its headquarters at Delhi and a branch office at Bangalore . Contributions to AAIS have been exempted under 80G of Income Tax Act (presently we are in the process of renewing our 80G certification) .

"AAIS was formed with the primary objective of raising funds from Indians to support various human development activities and disaster mitigation and relief response in India . ActionAid India's vision is to become self-supporting since it firmly believes that we, as Indians should be responsible for addressing the needs of our own people who are poor and in need of support from the larger Indian society. AAIS is also engaged in sensitizing the concerned citizens on issues of poverty and development through constant communication and interaction with individuals, groups, organizations and companies."
