Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars was established by an act of Congress in 1968. It is based in Washington D.C. and hosts scholars engaged "in the study of national and world affairs."
On its website it states that it "maintains a lively, neutral forum for free and informed dialogue." [1]
"It brings pre-eminent thinkers to Washington for extended periods of time to interact with policymakers through a large number of programs and projects. The Center seeks to separate the important from the inconsequential and to take a historical and broad perspective on the issues,". [2]
The President and Director of WWICS is Lee Herbert Hamilton (born April 20, 1931). Hamilton was the vice chairman of the 9/11 Commission, and currently serves on the President's Homeland Security Advisory Council. He previously served in the United States House of Representatives for 34 years and is a member of the Trilateral Commission.
The Woodrow Wilson Center established the Canada Institute on North American Issues (CINAI), a registered Canadian charity [3]established to address critical public policy issues within the context of North America. Through a series of lectures, seminars and other dialogue opportunities, CINAI programs highlight current and emerging issues within the Canada-US-Mexico relationship.
