"Born in the Bronx, Goodman graduated with a journalism degree from Syracuse University and held a variety of editing and writing jobs for publications such as the New Republic and Playboy before joining the New York Times.

"As a television critic, Goodman focused on news programs and documentaries.

"In the late 1960s, he wrote ”The Committee: The Extraordinary Career of the House Committee on Un-American Activities.”" [1]
