Tides Center describes itself the nation's leading fiscal sponsor for charitable initiatives providing administrative and financial infrastructure services to more than 200 nonprofit projects across the U.S. Since 1996, it has operated 600 nonprofit projects with combined revenues of nearly $400 million.

The Tides Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit group that colloborates with the Tides Foundation, the Thoreau Center for Sustainability and Groundspring.org which are other independent entities that are part of the Tides "family." The Tides Center currently runs the encyclopedia project Citizendium, established by Larry Sanger as an alternative to Wikipedia.

Overall structure

The Tides Center is under the organization called Tides. "Each Tides organization pursues a distinct yet related strategy to promote the Tides mission. Tides Foundation works with donors to increase and organize resources for positive social change. Tides Center provides nonprofit management services to over 200 projects across the U.S. working to advance social change. Tides Shared Spaces operates and supports green nonprofit centers."[1]
