Sally Jewell has been a director of the Costco "since January 2020. Since June 2019, she has served as the interim Chief Executive Officer of The Nature Conservancy, a global environmental nonprofit organization, and since 2018, as a board member of Symetra Financial Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Life Insurance Company. She served as the Secretary of the Interior under President Barack Obama from 2013 to 2017. From 2005 to 2013, she was the CEO and from 1996 to 2013 a director of Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), a retailer of outdoor recreation equipment and services. Previously, she worked in commercial banking for 19 years."[1]

Sally Jewell "is president and CEO of REI, a national retail cooperative with 3 million active members. REI provides quality outdoor gear and clothing through 90 retail locations and its award-winning website, rei.com. REI is known today as a leader in the outdoor retail industry, an active voice for environmental stewardship in local communities, and one of FORTUNE magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For. Before joining REI, Sally spent 19 years in the banking industry, where she held executive leadership roles. Earlier in her career, she worked as an engineer for Mobil Oil Corporation.

"An active leader in the community, Sally is a member of the UW Board of Regents. She is also on the board of the National Parks Conservation Association, and is one of the founding board members of the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, a nonprofit coalition dedicated to preserving and enhancing the 100 miles of open space land along I-90. In addition, Sally is active with the non-profit Initiative for Global Development, a group ofbusiness leaders working to end global poverty. She has been active in many non-profit and civic leadership roles in her 30-year business career.

"Sally is a graduate of the University of Washington. She was raised in and around Seattle, and has been married to Warren Jewell for 28 years. They have two children in college." [2]
