A subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. Papers owned by News Limited make up around 70% of the national and capital city newspaper market. The company owns the biggest selling daily paper in Melbourne, and has a monopoly on daily print news in Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, and Hobart. (David McKnight, "Murdoch & the Culture Wars", Do not Disturb, p. 56) According to its website, "More than 10 million Australians over the age of 14, about 65% of Australia's adult population read at least one News Limited metropolitan or national newspaper every week".
