NASDAQ OMX GROUP is a public company founded in 1971.[1] The group was originally formed through the National Association of Securities Dealers, or NASD. In 2006, "NASDAQ completed its separation from the NASD and began to operate as a national securities exchange. The next year (2007), NASDAQ combined with the powerful Scandinavian exchange group OMX and officially became the NASDAQ OMX Group".[1]
In 2011, NASDAQ OMX reported $3,438,000,000 in total revenues.[2]
Ties to Pete Peterson's "Fix the Debt"
The Campaign to Fix the Debt is the latest incarnation of a decades-long effort by former Nixon man turned Wall Street billionaire Pete Peterson to slash earned benefit programs such as Social Security and Medicare under the guise of fixing the nation's "debt problem."
