M&T Bank Corporation was established in 1856 as "Manufacturers and Traders Bank," now known as its current title, M&T.[1] According to its website, the bank is "one of the 20 largest US headquartered commercial bank holding companies, with current assets of $79 billion (as of June 1, 2011) and over 700 branches."[1]. M&T Bank is headquartered in Buffalo, New York.[2]
In 2011, the bank recorded $884,253,000 in net operating income.[3]
Ties to Pete Peterson's "Fix the Debt"
The Campaign to Fix the Debt is the latest incarnation of a decades-long effort by former Nixon man turned Wall Street billionaire Pete Peterson to slash earned benefit programs such as Social Security and Medicare under the guise of fixing the nation's "debt problem."
