James Fahn

James Fahn "is the executive director of the Earth Journalism Network, a project started up by Internews Network to work with environmental journalists worldwide.

"During the 1990s, Fahn was based in Thailand. As a reporter and editor for The Nation, an English-language daily newspaper based in Bangkok, he traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia. As environment editor, he led a team of reporters covering stories on how natural resources are used in Southeast Asia, and who gets to use them. He also co-founded the Thai Society of Environmental Journalists.

"In 1998, Fahn worked as a TV journalist, writing and hosting “Rayngan Si-khiow” (Green Report), a weeky Thai-language feature program about the environment.

"Fahn received the UN Environment Program’s Global 500 award in 1997 for The Nation’s coverage, and was also pinned by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for service to the Kingdom of Thailand In 2002, Westview Press published Fahn’s book about his experience as an investigative journalist in Thailand, entitled A Land on Fire: The Environmental Consequences of the Southeast Asian Boom.

"James Fahn received a Bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and a Master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University. He has worked for Newsweek, and written extensively for other periodicals such as The Economist. Most recently, he worked at the Ford Foundation as a program associate in the field of environment and development." [1]
