IAC/InterActiveCorp, founded in 1986 as Silver King Broadcasting Company (as a subsidiary of the Home Shopping Network), and has been renamed several times since. After variants on "USA Networks," InteractiveCorp was officially renmaed "IAC/InterActiveCorp" in 2004. It is headquartered in New York City, and claims that it "operates leading and diversified businesses in sectors being transformed by the internet, online and offline...our mission is to harness the power of interactivity to make daily life easier and more productive for people all over the world," as its website states. In April 2011, IAC extended their deal with Google to hand over all search advertising on Ask.com and other IAC search products to the search giant. The deal was worth $3.5 billion in 2007 and was set to end on March 31, 2016.[1] In 2011, IAC recorded $2,059,444,000 in revenue[2] and had $3,409,865,000 in total assets. IAC states it has 3,300 employees worldwide.[3]
Ties to Pete Peterson's "Fix the Debt"
The Campaign to Fix the Debt is the latest incarnation of a decades-long effort by former Nixon man turned Wall Street billionaire Pete Peterson to slash earned benefit programs such as Social Security and Medicare under the guise of fixing the nation's "debt problem."
