David Watt was a British journalist and commentator. In the 1950's he began his career in journalism at The Spectator, then worked at The Scotsman, then as Common Market correspondent of The Daily Herald. The following decade he worked for The Financial Times, including as its Washington correspondent between 1964 and 1967. In 1968 "returned to London, where for the next decade he served as a political editor and columnist of The Financial Times. In 1977, he left journalism to become director for the next five years of the Royal Institute of International Affairs." He died in March 1987 after being electrocuted after picking up a fallen power line.[1]
