Color of Change is an American nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the voice of African Americans in American politics, making government more responsive to the concerns of Black Americans and to bring about positive political and social change "for everyone." The group is made up of Black Americans from every economic class. The group uses the internet, holds coordinated events in different parts of the country, runs television and print advertisements, and demands that the news media cover Black-related issues. Color of Change also works with other groups engaged in related work to magnify their impact.[1]

Campaigns

After Glenn Beck called President Obama "a racist" who has a "deep-seated hatred for white people"during an appearance on Fox News channel in 2009, Color of Change realized Beck was on a campaign to spread the idea that President Obama's intent was to serve the needs of Black communities at White people's expense. Color of Change began a campaign calling on Beck's advertisers to stop sponsoring his show. The campaign resulted in more than 285,000 people asking Fox News advertisers to distance themselves from Beck's program. Ultimately, after nearly 300 advertisers abandoned Beck's Fox News talk show, the show was ended.[2]
