Airlines for America, also known as A4A and formerly known as the Air Transport Association of America, is the oldest and largest airline trade association in the United States.[1] According to its website, A4A's fundamental purpose is "to foster a business and regulatory environment that ensures safe and secure air transportation and enables U.S. airlines to flourish, stimulating economic growth locally, nationally and internationally."[1] The organization was funded by a group of 14 airlines in Chicago in 1936 and has its headquarters in Washington, DC.[2]
